Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Anna Davidson

February 18, 1940 ~ July 8, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Mary Anna Davidson was born on February 18,1940 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia to the late Joseph and Mary Louise Gibson.  In June of 1961 she married her husband, Skip, in England where they met. Mary Ann was known to many as “Nan” and once you met her you loved her. She lived her life always doing things for others. Mary Ann loved working with young people so much she coached her daughter’s softball team when she really did not know much about the game.  For seventeen years she was a Girl Scout leader and those who were in her troop still talk about the crafts they did, the fires they can build, and the campouts.  Mary Ann loved her church, Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, and being involved, if there was something going on at church she was there.  She was a part of the United Methodist Women’s group, always enjoyed making candy at Easter time, and decorating the church at Christmas time.  Mary Ann especially enjoyed being a part of the Busy Needles crocheting ministry to spread love to those in need.  For over 15 years Vacation Bible School children loved going to crafts lead by Mary Ann.  Her favorite pastime was spending time with family, cooking, making pies (which everyone loved) going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, making bouquets for dances, and having game nights with family and friends.  Mary Ann went to heaven on July 8, 2017 where she was reunited with family and friends whom she has missed so much.  Mary Ann is proceeded in death by her parents, the late Joseph and Mary Gibson, her husband of 51 years Virgil "Skip" Davidson, daughter Diana, sons James and John, and brothers Johnny Gibson and Barron Gibson.  Mary Ann leaves behind son Dwaine (Robin) Davidson, daughters Melissa (Anthony) DeFrances, Kim (Mike) Wadas, and Michelle Davidson. Grandchildren Michael, Nick, Katie, Paul, Dominic, Cameron, Victoria, and Anna Grace. Great-granddaughter Mylie, brother Joe Gibson, sisters Rosa Brown, Betty Orler, Cyndi Holder, Sisters-in-law Dee Barcalow and Norma Johnson, half-brother Tony, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m.  and at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church on Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Proya officiating.  Burial will follow at Fort Steuben.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Bell Chapel United Methodist Church.  The family would like to thank the employees of the Tony Teramana Cancer Center, especially Dr. Rahman for the care given over the past twelve years.  Also to Valley Hospice for their love, care and support  over the last several weeks.
