Charlene L. Brown Obituary

Charlene Laucille Brown, 79, of Wintersville, OH, passed away on April 10, 2023, after a many years long bout with congestive heart failure.
Charlene (Grandma Cha Cha) was born on July 9, 1943, daughter of the late Charles Edward and Evelyn Hudson Russlee in Steubenville, OH. Charlene graduated from Steubenville High School in 1961.
She worked for many years running the warehouse for Snyder Tire and Bulldog Security, and several years in the canteen at the Wheeling Pitt coke plant in Follansbee, WV.

She loved spending time with her grandkids Adam, Aubree & Halle, and with family and her many friends whom she cared about deeply. She also enjoyed her bluebirds that came back every year and her hummingbirds (her hummingbird feeders were busier than the Chicago airport; she would often fill them multiple times per day), hanging out the laundry, and spending time in the yard. Her husband Robert Brown, sister Sandra Hill and her parents Charles Edward and Evelyn Hudson Russlee predeceased Charlene. She is survived by her sister Margaret Ann (Jeff) Walton, her sons David (Kimber) Whanger and Frank (Lisa) Whanger & her grandchildren Adam, Aubree and Halle Whanger, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, on Sunday, April 16th from 3:00PM to 5:00PM with a service performed by Jason Elliott to be held Monday, April 17th at 10:00AM at Dunlope-Shorac. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Unity Church at Unity.org (She read Unity’s Daily Word for 50 years), First Westminster Presbyterian in Steubenville or to spend your time and money to spread sunshine and love in the world.
