Doris L. Hayhurst, 77 of Wintersville, Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 12, 2021 surrounded by her family at Valley Hospice. She was born on September 19, 1943 in Centralia, WV. Doris was preceded in death by her father Perry L. Booth and her sister Linda Marker. She leaves behind the love of her life and husband of 57 years Norris Hayhurst; mother Hazel Booth; one daughter Kim (Randy) Clapham; granddaughter Jenna Clapham and special friend Catherine Sanders; sisters Pam (Terry) Nutter and Pat Donley; lifelong friend Bonnie Stump and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was a graduate of Wintersville High School class of 1961 and shortly after graduation became employed at The Hub of Steubenville as a private secretary.
Doris was a homemaker, great cook and loved home decorating, especially at the holidays. Her greatest joy was watching her granddaughter Jenna play softball whether it was near or far, she never missed the opportunity to cheer on her favorite player. She was her biggest fan.
Doris never met a stranger and had the most loving, kind and generous soul. Whatever the need, she was always willing to help. She fought a hard battle and she won the war. Doris now stands in the presence of the Great Architect of the Universe and it is well. She will be missed.
The family would like to extend thanks to Valley Hospice for the love, care and compassion that they showed in her last days as she battled cancer. Also, Dr. John Figel and his staff and Dr. Matt Colflesh for the care they provided.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville from 4 pm to 8 pm Thursday, where services will be held Friday at 11 am. Reverend Douglas Shoaff officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.
