Marshall DeWitt Dalrymple, 97, of Wintersville, OH, died on Monday, May 3, 2021, surrounded by his family in Steubenville.
Born February 20, 1924, in New Alexandria, OH, Marshall was the son of the late Stanley and Beulah (McCollough) Dalrymple. He retired from LaBelle Candy Company after 32 years as a salesman and was a charter member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church in Steubenville. Marshall was a proud veteran of World War II, during which he spent two years in the Pacific Theater, primarily in Saipan, Japan, as the crew chief of a radar tower. As a sergeant first class he received many medals and a meritorious unit citation during his service. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society in Washington D.C.
Marshall was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Donna M. Dalrymple (Johnson) in 2005 and two brothers, Ted Dalrymple and Fred Dalrymple, veterans of WWII and the Korean War, respectively. He is survived by two sons, Kirk Dalrymple of San Francisco, CA, and Rodney Dalrymple of Wintersville, OH; and two granddaughters, Shae Dalrymple and Amber Dalrymple of Wintersville, OH.
Family and friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor William Westling officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
