Obituary
William L. Johnston, 69, of Weirton, WV passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was born on September 30, 1953 the son of the late Leslie and Sarah Crane Johnston.
After graduating from Steubenville High School in 1972, Bill attended The Ohio State University, where he wrestled. Before retiring, Bill served as Division Manager for US Steel in Gary, IN and East Chicago, Plant Manager for US Steel in Birmingham, AL and Area Manager for Weirton Steel Tin Mill. Bill and his late wife, Tina, along with support of Weirton Steel started “The Christmas Fund”, a charity for underprivileged children.
Bill was a member of Jefferson County Sportsman Club, Pine Lake Trout Club, and a nationally ranked trap shooter. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and animals.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife and soulmate Tina L. Peveich Johnston on December 16, 2016.
Bill is survived by two adoring sons William M. Johnston and R. Scott Johnston; sister Mary Catherine Casale and nephew James Casale.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services at 6 p.m. with Rev. Bill Westling officiating.
